Sturdy Glass Blocks and Glass Slabs With Bevelled Edges

The glass blocks and slabs feature bevelled, polished edges, ensuring safe handling and a comfortable grip. Their sturdy, flat surface allows for the precise mixing of materials such as cements, composites or impression materials – hygienic, smooth and durable.

Matt Finish on the Underside for a Secure Grip

Place the glass plates with the frosted side facing downwards to prevent them from slipping whilst you work. The non-slip underside ensures a firm grip on smooth surfaces and helps you make precise movements when mixing and portioning.

Optimal Material Properties for Controlled Working

The thickness of the glass blocks and slabs slows down the heating of the surface and prevents the mixed compounds from setting prematurely. This ensures consistent application and allows for clean working with consistent results.

Advantages of Becht’s Glass Blocks and Glass Slabs

  • Ideal for mixing cements, composites, pastes and impression materials
  • Non-porous surface, completely thermostable and validated for use in thermal disinfectors (RDG) and autoclaves
  • Completely resistant to monomers, acids and aggressive solvents
  • Extremely durable and hygienic

Frequently Asked Questions about Becht Glass Blocks and Slabs

In what finishes are Becht glass blocks and glass slabs available?

We offer glass blocks and slabs in two variants:

  • Clear on both sides: Both working surfaces are highly polished and transparent. Ideal for visually checking colour shades when mixing pastes or composites.
  • One side ground/one side clear: One surface is finely satin-finished, whilst the reverse side remains clear. The ground side offers optimum mechanical resistance, which facilitates the spreading and homogeneous mixing of viscous dental cements.

What is the difference between a glass block and a glass slab?

The main difference lies in the thickness of the material and its intended use:

  • Glass block: a solid, extra-thick piece with a high weight and high thermal inertia
  • Glass slab: flatter and lighter, excellent as a work surface, ideal for quick mixing on the go

Both versions are available in a completely clear finish or with one ground side.

Do the glass slabs offer chemical resistance to monomers and acids?

Yes. The non-porous material is 100% chemical-resistant. It is not attacked, discoloured or dulled by aggressive dental liquids, acids (e.g. etching gels), alcohols or monomers (such as MMA in laboratory resins). The plates remain permanently streak-free and smooth.

Can the dental glass blocks be sterilised in an autoclave?

Yes, Becht pro medix glass blocks and slabs are validated for thermal reprocessing in autoclaves. They are designed to withstand repeated thermal cycling over the long term. They are also fully suitable for mechanical cleaning and disinfection in a thermal disinfector (RDG).
