Which Hand Disinfection Is Best Suited To Your Needs?

In everyday medical practice, the demands placed on hand hygiene are extremely high and varied. Choosing the right hand sanitiser depends largely on your workflows. Do you need a product for quick, drip-free use between tasks, or the classic standard for surgical preparation in the operating theatre? With Becht4care® hand sanitisers, Becht pro medix offers solutions that are tailored precisely to your requirements.

Gel vs. Liquid – The Key Differences

To best meet a range of clinical and practical requirements, Becht4care® hand sanitiser is available in two variants:

Becht4care® Hand Sanitiser Gel

Hand disinfection gel is ideal when a drip-free application is particularly important. Thanks to its viscous consistency, it is easy to dispense and apply. This is especially handy for use on the go, in a lab coat pocket, or anywhere else where a clean and controlled application is required.

Suitable for:

  • Mobile use
  • Lab coat pockets and first-aid kits
  • Work areas where a non-drip application is required
  • Users who prefer a comfortable feel against the skin

Becht4care® Hand Disinfection Liquid

Our hand disinfection liquid is the classic standard for medical hand hygiene. It spreads easily, dries quickly and is particularly well suited for routine hand hygiene as well as for surgical hand disinfection.

Suitable for:

  • Day-to-day practice involving frequent use
  • Clinic, nursing and pre-operative preparation
  • Washrooms and treatment rooms
  • Areas with dispensers and high usage

We offer Becht4care® hand disinfection gel and liquid in exactly the sizes your practice requires:

FAQs On Hand Disinfection

What makes a good hand sanitiser?

Key quality characteristics of high-quality medical hand disinfection are:

  • A comprehensive, certified spectrum of activity (e.g. VAH-listed) for maximum safety
  • Short contact times to ensure smooth workflows in everyday clinical practice
  • Skin-friendly and a moisturising formulation without irritating additives, suitable for frequent use

What is the difference between hand disinfection liquid and hand disinfection gel?

The main difference between gel and liquid lies in their consistency and how they are used:

Hand Disinfection Liquid

  • the standard in the medical sector
  • spreads particularly quickly over the skin
  • dries quickly
  • often the preferred choice for surgical hand disinfection

Hand Disinfection Gel

  • a non-drip alternative to liquid hand disinfection
  • particularly handy when out and about or in your lab coat pocket

What are the differences between the various spectra of activity (e.g. virucidal, bactericidal)?

These technical terms define the types of microorganisms against which a disinfectant is effective:

  • Bactericidal: Kills bacteria (including multi-resistant strains such as MRSA).
  • Levurocide: Specifically effective against yeast fungi.
  • Limited virucidal activity: Inactivates enveloped viruses (e.g. influenza viruses, SARS-CoV-2).
  • Limited virucidal plus: Covers all enveloped viruses as well as key non-enveloped viruses (such as noroviruses, rotaviruses and adenoviruses).
  • Virucidal: Effective against all enveloped and non-enveloped viruses.

Good to know: As a ‘limited virucidal plus’ product (including bactericidal and yeasticidal properties), Becht4care® hand disinfectant reliably covers the relevant spectrum of pathogens encountered in everyday practice and hospital settings.

How can I protect my skin when using hand sanitiser frequently?

  • Use aldehyde-free products that have been dermatologically tested and rated ‘very good’.
  • Do not wash your hands immediately before or after disinfecting them to prevent them from drying out.
  • Moisturise your hands during breaks and after finishing work with a regenerating lotion.

How do I wash my hands properly?

  • Place the required amount (see manufacturer’s instructions) into the palm of your dry hand.
  • Rub the product in thoroughly, paying particular attention to your fingertips, thumbs, the spaces between your fingers, your cuticles and your wrists.
  • Observe the recommended contact time for your hand sanitiser and keep your hands moist throughout this period by continuing to rub them together.
