Becht pro medix steel separating strips are used for the targeted removal of excess material and the smoothing of approximal surfaces in ceramic, composite and amalgam fillings. The 60 µ grit on one side enables precise processing without damaging adjacent teeth. Made of rustproof, dimensionally stable stainless steel, the strips offer an optimal balance between flexibility and stability for safe interproximal use. The finely structured abrasive surface ensures an even grinding pattern and supports the restoration of anatomically correct contact surfaces.

Use case

ProfiDent steel separating strips from Becht pro medix are intended for use in restorative dental treatments. They are used for finishing, shape correction and polishing of fillings in the approximal area. Their fine grain size and flexible structure enable controlled working in narrow contact zones to remove excess material and create smooth, hygienic surfaces.

Application

The steel strip is inserted into the approximal space between two teeth – usually after filling therapy or restoration. With controlled, gentle pulling movements, the strip is moved back and forth to gently remove excess material from the contact surfaces. The single-sided abrasive surface ensures targeted removal without damaging the adjacent tooth.

After removing excess material, the strip can be used in finer, polishing movements to smooth the surface and create an anatomically correct contact surface. This prevents rough transitions and protects the gums.

This procedure allows precise control of the approximal spaces and contributes to the aesthetic and functional optimisation of the restoration – for example, after the processing of ceramic, composite or amalgam fillings.
